On Monday, March 22, 2004 at 21:00 GMT (= 1:00PM Pacific Time) Microsoft will
present a WebCast about using Visual Studio to create MSI setups.
Description: Deploying a Microsoft® Visual Studio® .NET application is greatly
simplified with the VS.NET Setup and Deployment Project. Using this tool makes
it very simple to deploy an ASP.NET or Windows Forms application. You can
customize the registry, add file associations, and even run your own custom .NET
code once the installation is complete. In this Webcast we will demonstrate how
to use these features.

In cooperation with selected resellers InstallShield has started a
competitive upgrade offer. Owners of competing products (like Wise and ZeroG and
others) can receive a 50% discount when switching to InstallShield DevStudio.
However Visual Studio and freeware or shareware tools don't qualify for the
upgrade. This offer is limited until April 30, 2004. As proof of purchase you
can send a copy of the CD or boklet, or a screenshot. More details about

Mike Gunderloy has posted his out-of-print book as a free download on his
website. He says: "This is a book I did for Sybex, based on the 1.0 release of the
Windows Installer. It didn't do especially well in the market, and the
rights have reverted to me. So, if you want, you can download the
uncorrected galleys and read it for free now. Out of date, but perhaps
still useful."
